Well I moved into my new apartment off post last Saturday and the only furnniture in the room was a bed. So I decided to by a desk/offcie chair, and a chair, and dresser, and end tables. Thankfully I had my Afghan friend scout out what I wanted ahead of time and get a price so when I came back with him the price didn't escalate to the US price.
I had it delivered the next day. You are supposed to not deliver anything in commercial trucks on our street but $5 bribes at each check point and wala I had my furniture at home delivered.
Kind of scarry -- I guess the Taliban could do that too -- doesn't give you a secure feeling.

That's the same thing I was thinking! If 5 bucks buys your way in....then what about the bad guys! Scary! Glad you're all set up now. Hope life off the base treats you well. Take care!
