On a daily basis, 36 black water trucks are needed to remove waste from
this camp. The volume of waste includes the water which is drained and
flushed down the sinks, toilets and showers. Therefore, reducing the
amount of water we use will reduce the volume of waste, increasing the
duration of use and/or the number or trucks required. If the volume of
water is reduced, drastic measures such as turning off the water and
shutting down the self use laundry will be less likely.
Therefore to help conserve water please adhere to the following
conservation tips:
When brushing teeth, turn off water between brushing and rinsing
Conduct Navy Showers when showering, turn water on to get wet, turn
water off while soaping, turn water on to rinse. Water should not run
continuously during your shower.
Only wash full loads in the self-help laundries.
If it is yellow let it mellow, if it is brown flush it down....
If everyone would follow these simple guidelines we would conserve
water. This means the tanks would not have to be pumped as often,
meaning the water could be on longer during periods of threats.
