Trip to Olympia, WA
Took a trip to Olympia (Tumwater), WA on 21 Aug 2008, and visited the State Capital of Washington. Also, visited places where Gayla grew up -- two of her childhood homes (Quincy and Ephrata, WA). Went through Snowqualimie Pass (raining and 48 degrees). Saw the Vantage Bridge over the Columbia River and of course visited George, Washington. Also, saw the Wild Horse Monument.

Burglar Beware
Last Monday morning at 12:30 am I got up to go to the bathroom and when I went back into the bedroom I noticed lights in the back yard. I went to the window and saw a car parked facing toward the house with it's lights focused on the double doors in the basement. I went out on the deck and yelled to the guy -- "who are you and what do you want? Then I yelled, "what are you doing down there." No response! A few seconds later he ran for his car and got in and backed out and turned toward the driveway. He went down the south driveway and onto Key Way. I watched him for a minute and realized I didn't get his license number and figured maybe I could catch him so I ran and got my keys and proceded down the mountain on two wheels at times, and out the gate and down the road reaching 80 miles and hour. When I got to Hiway 291 (3.5.miles) I realized he must have turned off. I went back home and decided to go back to bed since calling the police would involve a lot of waiting and very little sleep to be had, so I slept with one eye open the rest of the night and called the police in the morning. They came out and dusted for finger prints and took pictures of tire tracks and shoe prints. They took my statement and said they thought it was probably one of the workmen from one of the construction projects going on up here. One of my contractors offered to loan me a gun to use -- may take him up on it. I am so glad I am staying here so I can keep and eye on things.
