I have been offered a job in Afghanistan with Caliber Corp. I would be a contractor working for the military as a Senior Financial Analyst. I haven't received the contract yet but it should happen this week.
I would leave some time after the 30th of April 2009, when my contract with Liberty Tax Service expires.
I would go through Ft Benning, GA on my way to Afghanistan. All travel would be by Government air (helicopter) in theater. No traveling through the countryside on outings.
I would work 60 hr weeks. Ten hours a day 6 days a week. Sundays off.
I would get one round trip home during the one year assignment. However, I must stay overseas for 330 of the 365 days in order to get $80K of my salary exempted from taxes. So I may just go to England, Germany and meet mom there.
