Koele Dining Facility

Like I do every day, three times a day, I go to the DFAC (Pronounced Dee-Fack, short for Dining Facility), The DFACs here provide four meals a day: Breakfast, Lunch, DInner, and Midrats (Midnight Rations). I n between the meals, there are sandwich bars that are open for people to get what they want.

The eight different DFACs offer a variety of choices for each of the meals, so if you get bored of one choice, you can walk to another one to get a whole new selection.  They each have their own unique things about them that make the variety worth it.
We also have access to as much food as we need, and there are plenty of choices of drinks, so we are not going to go hungry while I am out here.

Trip to Graduation

I went by way of MRAP to the graduation of the Military Class that I taught.  Here are a few pictures from the trip.

New Job in Bagram Afghanistan

Started a new job -- back with my old company -- LSI.  Started work at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan.  I am working as a cost analyst.  Where I was required to carry a weapon on my previous job as a Mentor to the Ministry of Defense I don't carry a weapon now.

The mountains are beautiful around BAF.  The weather has been hot lately -- 90s but is cooling off to the 80s now.  Should be in the 70s by the end of the month of September 2013.

I was called to the District Council to work with the Bagram AF Branch for which I am a member.  There were only about 36 member remaining at Camp Eggers - around 18-20 attended.  There are around 121 at the BAF Branch.  Around 65 attend the meetings.  They have two meetings -- one at 10am and one at 8pm.  Their meetings are only one and 1/2 hours long.  The meetings were 2 hours long at Kabul Military Branch.

I have been teaching the Afghan National Army (ANA) budget and finance courses for the past two months.  Some of my students are contracting, logistics, and finance officers for the ANA.  I rode to the class every day in an MRAP.

Ride in an MRAP

I have been teaching the Afghanistan National Army soldiers this past week and have been traveling to teach them in an MRAP.  What a beast of a machine.  It is 35 tons of metal.  There is nothing on the road that can harm it.  I will be riding in it daily for a while and am enjoying the ride.  Such fun.  One more thing off my bucket list!
