Trip From Hell

My trip home for R&R was anything but uneventful. I went to the Kabul, Afghanistan airport on the 22nd of December 2010 for my 9 am flight to Frankfurt, Germany -- I arrived early and went throught the 5 pat downs and luggage seraches only to be told at the ticket counter the flight from Frnakfurt had been delayed due to weather in Germany and they flight would get in until 9am and then the crew needed and 8 hour turn around to fly back. So they said it would probably leave around 10pm that night but I should call back later. Kept calling all day long and they didn't know anything until 7pm that evening. They gave us a 10am departure time and a 7am arrival time at the airport. So I went to work and got up again the next day to make the trek back to the airport. Waited at the airport till 11am and nothing. Then they boarded us on the plane. Left around 12pm or 12:30pm. Arrived in Frankfurt, GE at 4:30pm. Went to the ticket counter for a re-booking since I had missed my flight. Was told I had to go up stairs. There they had a waiting line that lasted 3 hours to get re-booked. There were no flights to any city in the US. So I go standby on the flight to San Francisco, CA. The next morning I went back to the airport got on the flight -- luckily. Arrived in San Francisco at 1pm, and went to the ticket counter. The agent said I have good news and bad news-- good news I have a seat on a flight to Spokane, WA the bad news it isn't till 10pm tonight. I took it and was glad. Arrived at midnight the 24th at home. Oh yeah, my reservation at the hotel I could use for the night before that I missed because it was no-refundable.
